Kirby Birdsong | Journey Birth Center
Bio: Kirby has a passion for serving women through midwifery. During her time in college, she was inspired to work with women through the intimate and life-changing experience of pregnancy and childbirth. She embraced midwifery because it allows her to holistically care for mothers and their families anywhere in the world.
Kirby earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health from the University of Oklahoma, where she was first introduced to midwifery. After graduating, she pursued a Biblical studies and discipleship program, where she felt called to a life of service and mission work. She soon realized that midwifery could be a powerful way to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of women and families around the world, and pursued her midwifery degree with the National College of Midwifery.
Since then, Kirby has gained hands-on clinical experience through training in Oklahoma, the Republic of Congo, and the Philippines. Working closely with women in need, she witnessed firsthand the profound impact of compassionate care. These experiences deepened her passion for missionary midwifery, solidifying her commitment to serving mothers and families across cultures. After spending several years at a missions maternity clinic in Asia, she has begun a new part of her midwifery Journey in coming to Texas!
She is BLS and NRP certified and has completed specialized training in breech birth, waterbirth, and VBAC support. Kirby believes that birth is a natural part of life and that God has uniquely designed women with the ability to bring forth life. She is passionate about educating and empowering families, ensuring they feel informed and confident in their childbirth journey.
When she’s not serving through midwifery, Kirby enjoys reading, outdoor activities, and traveling to visit friends and experience different cultures.
