Bio: At The Shire Midwifery, we provide comprehensive midwifery services for families choosing an out-of-hospital birth. We partner with you from your very first prenatal consultation through labor support and into gentle postpartum care. Our services include personalized prenatal planning, tailored birth plans, continuous support during labor, and compassionate guidance after birth—all designed to ensure you feel safe and nurtured.
Whether you choose to birth at home or in another serene setting, our experienced team is here to walk alongside you every step of the way. Inspired by the warm spirit of the Shire and a quiet, guiding faith, we honor each birth as a sacred beginning, creating a welcoming space where both you and your baby can flourish.
A certified nurse midwife and doctor (yes, she’s that fancy), Andie has been a beloved part of the Houston birth community for over twenty years. Her journey has taken her through elementary school nursing, hospital L&D, birth center, and home birth—collecting wisdom, experience, and probably a few wild birth stories along the way. She has an unshakable belief in a woman’s ability to grow and birth her baby and sees midwifery as a true partnership, empowering families through trust, knowledge, and a good dose of laughter.
Andie’s approach is tender, funny, lighthearted, and refreshingly hands-off—offering evidence-based care with a side of snark and sass when needed. She’s been joyfully dating her hottie husband of 24 years (since junior high, no less) and is the proud mother of six incredible humans.
Beyond bellies, birth, and breastfeeding, Andie’s passions include swooning over her husband, devouring books and period dramas, and indulging in truly obscene amounts of movie theater popcorn. Organizing a rando drawer? Pure bliss. Life in The Shire wouldn’t be complete without her wit, warmth, and magic touch.
I have spent extensive time dedicated to supporting families during pregnancy, labor, birth and parenting through a history of trauma. My doctorate studies were focused on birth after traume (specificaly sexual trauma).

Reviews
“Andie is the best midwife ever. She supported me during 3 of my 4 births and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Andie is caring, patient, knowledgeable, funny, available when you need her, and she takes the time to really get to know you and your baby. I never felt rushed and she always made sure to listen to me and to really build trust and a bond. She believes in a woman’s ability to birth in the way that she wants. She trusts the birthing process and I always felt empowered. My first baby was an emergency C-section. I knew I didn’t want anymore C-sections, and she made sure I knew I could birth my babies the way I wanted, that my body was not broken...and I did! Andie becomes family to all of the mothers that she supports. She is simply fantastic, and I am so thankful to call her my midwife.”
“From the moment I met Andie...I knew that we would be fast friends. Her experience as a midwife made me feel completely safe, and her presence as a woman made me feel completely seen and known in all the pregnancies we shared.
Andie touched me once so gently during birth that it nearly took the pain away, I’ve never forgotten that touch. Years later she held me as I faced the pain of losing a pregnancy, and I will never forget that either.
Somehow she embodies everything that is feminine without being at all pretentious. She is great business woman, an experienced midwife and an empathic person. I can’t imagine a better combo to bring a baby into this world.”
“I have known Andie for almost 20 years. She is one of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever known. She is exactly who you’d want by your side during your journey. She is so smart, but along with that, she’s an excellent teacher, so she knows how to answer your questions and explain things in a way that everyone can understand. She’s patient and kind, and also hilarious. So look forward to getting quality care mixed in with a lot of compassion and cheerleading, also mixed with a ton of humor. ”
